Mount Olomana is a breathtaking formation of three distinct peaks on the Windward side of Oahu, each one steeper and more demanding than the last. Through a break in the lush Hawaiian forest, you can see Ahiki Peak, the third, tallest, and most treacherous of them all. Getting there isn’t just a hike; it’s a test of nerve and skill.

Climbing to the summit of Ahiki meant confronting sections of open face rock with no ropes, only handholds and sheer will. Every movement was intentional, calculated, and completely exposed. On one side, steep jungle valleys dropped away into silence; on the other, razor thin ridgelines reminded me how real the risk was. I remember moments where I had to trust slick, crumbling rock with nothing but focus and grip strength keeping me grounded.

Coming down was just as intense, descending steep rock faces where one misstep could mean disaster. But with every careful motion, there was this mix of fear and freedom. It was raw, real, and deeply humbling. The views from the top made it all worth it, but the journey itself is what stays with me.
